2017 Umpire Courses
The IPA will be hosting two more Umpire Clinics in the coming weeks prior to the start of the 2017 season.
1st April, 2 - 5 pm, Glenview Hotel, Glen of the Downs.
22nd April, 2 - 5 pm, Carraig Hotel, Carrick on Suir.
Reminder that these courses are mandatory for all members that meet the requirements in order to play in the Nationals 2017!
A lot of time and effort has gone into setting up this process to meet the needs and concerns expressed by IPA members. Attendance is therefore your chance to be a part of addressing these concerns surrounding standards of umpiring in the IPA.
The aim of these clinics is to:
Any player over the age of 16, graded 3 pts or more OR have played for at least 3 seasons of polocrosse must attend a session but all players are welcome.
This is a great opportunity to familiarise yourself with the rules and the role and responsibilities of an umpire in polocrosse! And for our numerous members who are experienced umpires this is a great opportunity to discuss and refresh rule knowledge as well as supporting and encouraging younger and inexperienced umpires.
In preparation for the course all members are asked to familiarise themselves with the updated rulebook, available on the IPA website. There is also a set of example exam questions on the website that will provide a good basis for the exam at the end of the courses.
Greater detail regarding the umpire qualification process is also available in the updated rulebook. But don't hesitate to contact me or your club's IPA rep and Club Umpire if you require any more clarification or have any pressing enquiries!
Looking forward to seeing all of you at the courses.
